Buildings Engineer/EIT, Technologist, or Buildings Professional
Location: Canmore, Alberta
Experience: 2–10 Years
Evergreen Engineering is growing our Buildings group and we’re looking for a motivated Buildings Engineer, EIT, Technologist, or Buildings Professional to join us in Canmore, AB. This is an opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects across the Bow Valley and Western Canada—while living and working in the mountains.
About the Role
- You will support the building enclosure and structural team by leading enclosure and structural assessments, investigations, design, construction-phase services, and project management.
- You’ll work closely with senior engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to deliver high‑quality technical
solutions for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings. - You will be working primarily from home but can expect frequent site visits in the Bow Valley and occasional client or team meetings in person. Preference will be given to candidates living in or willing to relocate to Canmore.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct building enclosure and/or structural condition assessments, investigations, and site reviews
- Assist with (or lead, depending on experience) design of enclosure repairs, renewals, and details
- Support structural assessment and design projects
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, and field memos
- Support construction administration, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve enclosure-related performance issues
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, and client communication
- Mentor other staff (depending on experience level)
Qualifications
- Engineering Degree in Civil, Structural, Building Science, or related discipline, or;
- Experience as an engineering technologist or building science professional
- 2–10 years of relevant building enclosure, structural or building science experience
- Experience with building enclosure design, assessments, or construction
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to sites as required

- On-site experience and construction knowledge
- Excellent intrapersonal and communication skills
- Motivated, performance focused, and career driven
- Structural engineering experience
- Interest in leveraging AI tools to augment efficiency but not replace technical capabilities
- Knowledge of Alberta Building Code and building envelope best practices
- Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools is a bonus (infrared, moisture meters, etc.)
